Marynat Cultural Itineraries

Day 1: Arrive at Bole International Airport and transfer to Hotel then have a full day city tour of Addis to visit the National and Archaeological Museum of Addis Ababa, trinity cathedral church, panoramic view of the capital from mount Entoto where was the former capital of Emperor Menelik II and Merkato, the largest open air market in Africa. Over night at Hotel

Day 2 – Addis – Melka kunture – Tiya – Langano

Drive south to the Rift Valley Lake of Langano visiting the pre-historic archeological site of Melka Kunture and the stelea field of Tiya (UNESCO World Heritage Site). At Lake Langano enjoy swimming and bird watching around. Over Night at Beach Resort

Day 3 – Langano – Arba Minch

Drive 300 km south to Arba Minch visiting the tribal people of Alaba who are noted for their beautifully painted houses and hat, Wolita, known for their cultivation of Enset or False Banana, Over Night at Lodge

Day 4 – Arba Minch

Morning visit of Dorze village who are renowned for their huge huts and colorful cotton clothes, demonstration of Kocho from Enset (a pan cake like food from false banana tree) and in the afternoon have a remarkable boat trip on the rift valley lake of Chamo to visit the ‘crocodile market’ where you can see display of large African Crocodiles, hippopotamus, and low land water birds. Over Night at Lodge

Day 5 – Arba Minch – Konso

Drive 90 km to Konso and visit the fortified village of Konso people who are renowned for their colorful hand-woven cotton clothes and beautiful rock terraces and the Waka museum which is housed different old Totems used by the warriors of Konso people as tomb markers. Over Night at lodge

Day 6- Konso – Jinka

After breakfast, drive to Jinka and visit the Tsemai, Hamer, Bena and Ari people on the way, photographing is paid (If the day is Thursday, stop on your way at Key Afer to visit the most colorful multicultural market in the Lower Omo Valley which is attended by the tribal groups of Ari, Benna, Hamer and Tsemai.) or not Ari village will be visited. O/N at Hotel

Day 7 – Jinka

Today, you will have an excursion to the Mago National Park and visit the people of Mursi who are typically known by the clay lip plates women. Then, drive back to Jinka and visit the Ethnological Museum of south Omo people. Over Night at Hotel

Day 8 – Jinka – Turmi

Drive to Turmi and visit the village of Hamer people whose women are noted for their typical hairdressing, and leather skirts. (If today is Saturday or Tuesday, you will have a stop at the colorful weekly market of Hamer and Benna people at Dimeka/Alduba) O/N at Lodge

Day 9 – Turmi

In the morning, you will have an excursion to Omorate to visit the Dasenech people who are the southernmost people of the country and are known for their scarifications. (If the day is Saturday or Tuesday, have an excursion in the afternoon to visit the colorful weekly market of the Hamer at Dimeka, or if Monday at Turmi.) O/N at Lodge

Day 10 – Turmi – Arbaminch

Drive to Arbaminch with a stop at the village of Erbore people who are one of the tribes found in the southern part of Ethiopia and the typical people who build their houses in papyrus. Over Night at Lodge

Day 11 – Arbaminch – Addis

Drive back to Addis through Hosana where is the territory of Hadiya people, In the evening before departure, have a fare well dinner party at one of the best traditional restaurants where you will see the folkloric dances of the people of Ethiopia, and taste the variety of Ethiopian meals. Then, be transferred to the airport for your departure

Marynat Grand Expedition

Day 2: Fly to Bahir Dar. In the afternoon visit the ancient island monasteries on Lake Tana. Overnight Hotel.
Day 3: Early Morning visit the majestic Blue Nile falls. After noon city tour of Bahir Dar. Overnight Hotel.
Day 4: Fly to Gondar visit the 17thC castles, the Bath of Fasiledes, Qusquam Monastery and the icon rich church of Debre Berehan Silassie. Overnight Hotel.
Day 5: Fly to Lalibela and visit the magnificent rock-hewn churches. Overnight in the Hotel.
Day 6: Fly to Axum and visit St. Mary church, stelaes, tombs, Museum, and palace. Overnight in the Hotel.
Day 7: Fly back to Addis and Overnight hotel.
Day 8: Early in the Morning drive to Hosanna visiting the rock-hewn church of Adadi Mariam and to unique stelae of Tiya en route. Overnight Hotel.
Day 9: Early in the morning drive up hill to Chencha to visit the Dorze tribal Village with the people’s life style and their beehive shaped huts. Driving to Arbaminch for Overnight Hotel.
Day 10: Morning drive to Jinka, visit the Konso, Tsemay, Ari and Benna tribes en route. Overnight at Hotel.
Day 11: Drive along the Mago River, visit the Mursi people they are renowned for the strange custom followed by their women who, on reaching maturity, have their lower lips slit and circular clay discs inserted. picnic lunch, and drive back to Mago national park for game viewing and overnight camping at Hotel.
Day 12:
After break fast, drive to Murule to visit the Karo tribe they are known for their body painting. Overnight at Hotel
Day 13: After an early breakfast, drive to Omorate. After crossing the Omo River visit the Geleb (Dasenech) tribe. Then continue driving to Turmi. Overnight at Hotel.
Day 14: Drive to Dimeka market (If the day is Tuesday or Saturday) to encounter different tribes at one place. (The Hamer, Benna and Tsemay). Drive back to Turmi for overnight.
Day 15: After breakfast drive to Arbaminch. Visit the Arbore tribe en route. Overnight Hotel at Arbaminch.
Day 16: After breakfast drive to Nechisar National park to see mammals and various species of birds. In the afternoon drive to Lake Chamo to observe the crocodile market, and various species of water birds including hippos. Overnight Hotel at Arbaminch.
Day 17: After breakfast drive to Wondo Genet where you enjoy swimming in a pool of Natural hot water. Overnight Hotel at Wondo Genet.
Day 18: After breakfast drive to Abijata-Shalla Lakes National park to see the lakes with its colorful birds. Proceed to Langano the Famous resort center. Overnight Langano Hotel.
Day 19: Drive back to Addis. Visit Lake Ziway and some of the crater lakes around Debrezeit. Overnight Hotel.
Day 20: Fly to Dire Dawa. Up on arrival drive to Harar. Visit the Hyena man at night. Overnight hotel.
Day 21: After an early breakfast, city tour of Harar that includes: Harari House, Museums, colorful market, Arthur Rambaud house, and the ancient mosques. In the late afternoon drive to Dire Dawa for overnight in the Hotel.
Day 22: Transfer to Dire Dawa airport for your flight back to Addis. Overnight Hotel.
Day 23: Sightseeing tour of Addis and departure back to home.

Day 1: Arrive at Addis Ababa and transfer to the Hotel.Day 2: After breakfast drive to Awash National Park stop over at Debre Zeit to visit one of the Crater Lake with its birds. Proceed to Awash NP to have a game drive in the park. Overnight in the Lodge
Day 3: After breakfast through the farm land of Arsi drive to Dinsho – the headquarter of Bale Montains National Park. Refresh and walk out for game viewing around the park. Overnight Dinsho Lodge.
Day 4: Early in the morning drive to Senate plateau to drive up to mount Tulu Dimtu – the 2nd highest peak in Ethiopia and to spot the endemic Ethiopian Wolf. Drive back to the park for sightseeing, Bird watching and game viewing. Overnight in the lodge.
Day 5: Morning drive to Sof – Omer to visit the cave-It is one of the world’s most spectacular and extensive underground systems. The intermittent river web, which sources from Bale mountains National park, penetrates the cave years round. Drive back to Robe for overnight Hotel.
Day 6: After breakfast through the oromo – Muslim culture drive to Wendo Genet. After check into the hotel bird watching, swimming in a natural hot spring water. O/N Hotel.
Day 7: After breakfast drive to Sodo and proceed up hill to Chencha to visit the Dorze people with their waving culture and their bee hive shaped huts. Drive to Arbaminch for overnight in the Hotel.
Day 8: After breakfast drive to Nechisar National park to see mammals and various species of birds. In the afternoon drive to Lake Chamo to observe the crocodile market, and various species of water birds including hippos. Overnight Hotel at Arbaminch.

After check in to the hotel drive to Mecheke to visit the konso people- they are resourceful, efficient charming, careful, and hard-working people with their fascinating culture and proceed to ‘New York’village to visit the very beautiful landscape with mountain structure. Overnight Hotel at Konso.
Day 15: After breakfast drive through the Borena tribal village to Yabello and continue driving to Elsod to visit salt lake; back to Yabello for overnight in the Hotel.
Day 16: After breakfast, drive to Awasa via Dila on the way visit false banana plantation. Overnight Awasa in the Hotel.
Day 17: After breakfast, drive to Lake Awassa to visit the fish market at the shore of the lake and spot various species of water birds, continue driving to Abijata-Shalla Lakes National park to have a game drive and to visit the two northern chain of Ethiopian Rift-valley Lakes with their various colourful water birds. Precede to Langano the Famous resort centre. Overnight at Resort
Day 18: Drive back to Addis. Visit Lake Ziway-largest northern Ethiopian rift-valley lake it is the home of five little volcanic islands. End of the Tour
