Itineraries
Day 1
Addis Ababa
Arrive in Addis Ababa and transfer to your hotel. Based on your arrival time, you will have a full day or half day tour of the city.
Day 2
Gondar
Fly to the town of Gondar and drive to the nearby town of Debark in preparation for your trekking. Overnight in your hotel in Debark.
Day 3
Debark to Chinkwanit
Trek from Debark to Chinkwanit. About 100m to the north of Chinkwanit, and hidden by a slight incline, is a fabulous viewpoint from the top of the main Simien escarpment. Overnight in camp in the park. (12km, 4 to 5 hours)
Day 4
Park
Following the narrow path that keeps close to the edge of the escarpment, trek to Geech Camp via Sankaber. At some points the escarpment narrows with gorgeous views and you may well meet your first troop of gelada baboons. Overnight in your camp in the park. (15km, 7 to 8 hours)
Day 5
Trek to Chenek
Trek to Chenek via Imet Gogo which affords some of the most spectacular views of the Simien Mountains. Then from here follow the edge of the escarpment south by way of the Gedadere viewing point. Overnight in your camp in the park. (20km, 7 to 9 hours)
Day 6
Trek to Mt. Bwahit
Trek to Mt. Bwahit and return to camp. (6km, 2 to 3 hours) The summit of Mt. Bwahit (4430m) lies to the southeast of the camp. From the top, you can see a tiny spot of Ras Dashen. Overnight ins your camp in the park
Day 7
Trek to Ambikwa.
Trek to Ambikwa. (22km, 8 to 9 hours) From this area you can easily see the bulk of Ras Dashen. Overnight in your camp in the park
Day 8
Trek from Ambikwa to Ras Dashen
Trek from Ambikwa to Ras Dashen and return. (17km, 8 to 10 ours) At Ras Dashen, there are three distinct points, and there is much debate about which is the true summit. Overnight inside your camp in the park.
Day 9
Trek back to Chenek
Trek back to Chenek as a final day of trekking. Overnight in your camp in the park
Day 10
Back to Gondar
Trek to Debark and drive back to Gondar. Overnight in your hotel in Gondar.
Day 11
Back to Addis Ababa
Fly back to Addis Ababa for an afternoon shopping tour and farewell national dinner. Overnight in your hotel in Addis Ababa
Day 12
Untitled
Transfer to Bole International Airport for departure to your origin.
